About

The Sweetwater Artist Member Initiative (SAMI) is a membership-based program created by Sweetwater Center for the Arts to provide comprehensive, holistic support to artists throughout the Pittsburgh region. Designed for artists at every stage of their creative journey, SAMI equips members with the tools, resources, community connections, and opportunities needed to strengthen their artistic practice and build sustainable creative careers.

Through a combination of professional development workshops, studio access, financial support, and community engagement, SAMI aims to address the real-world challenges artists face while fostering a thriving regional arts ecosystem.

Our Mission

SAMI exists to empower artists by providing meaningful access to education, resources, opportunities, and community that support both artistic growth and career sustainability.

The program recognizes that artists need more than exhibition opportunities—they need entrepreneurial skills, professional networks, access to space, financial support, and ongoing mentorship to thrive.
